How should our state budget and spending website be developed?

Citizens Informed believes our state legislators should assemble an outside committee to develop our state budget and spending website. The committee should consist of the following:

State Legislators
Web Design Consultants
Web Development Consultants
State Departments
Media Outlets
Think Tanks/Advocacy Groups

We believe that assembling this group of people will allow North Carolinians the opportunity to create a user-friendly, accessible and searchable portal that is comprehensive and effective.

Many states are passing transparency legislation and putting some information online, but it is still difficult to navigate and does not provide comprehensive budget or spending information. We feel that by utilizing experts within our state legislature, advocacy and policy groups, media and web consultants, North Carolina will lead the way to maximum transparency and will spend its time and money wisely from the onset.
